The Radiology department in Apollo Hospitals,Bangalore is a complete imaging department, equipped with the latest state of the art imaging equipment, be it the X-Rays, Ultrasonography, CT scan, MRI, Mammography or the Cath Lab.

X-Rays are two dimensional pictures produced by high energy electromagnetic waves. These are useful in examining various parts of the body including the chest, bones & joints etc. Conventional radiography has been safely used as a diagnostic tool for more than a century now.

The department is equipped with Digital Radiography (IDC) SEDECAL - X PLUS, Siemens digital fluoroscopy AXIOM - ICONOS - R 200, a 300 mA X ray machine and a Computerised Radiography system(Fuji Profect One).

The digital Radiography which is the first of its kind in the state, enables us to get the maximum information from the X-Ray, allowing significantly improved detection rate of abnormalities and also better evaluation of the abnormalities. The radiation burden to the patient is greatly reduced, apart from reduction in the patient waiting time as there is no dark room processing involved unlike in conventional radiography. This also makes it an ecofriendly department due to the lack of chemical discharge.

Two portable machines with high frequency generators are at hand to provide high quality bedside imaging facilities especially in the Intensive Care units. The skiagrams are printed on laser camera, providing high resolution imaging. Due care is taken to ensure patient comfort, safety and well being before, during and after the procedures.

ULTRASONOGRAPHY & COLOUR DOPPLER

MRI
Our Philips Achieva 1.5T MRI is a high field strength MRI system is equipped with the latest imaging software and capable of perfoming high resolution imaging of the whole body, with special unique features like DWIBS(very useful in oncology imaging), 2048 matrix imaging, KT blast for cardiac imaging and 4D trak dynamic imaging.

Interventional Procedures
Besides Barium studies, IVP and Urethrograms,Myelogram , Cisternograms, hysterosalpingograms, PTBD (Percutaneous transhepatic Biliary drainage)and PCN (Percutaneous nephrostomy), fallopian tube recanalisation are done under fluoroscopic guidance routinely.
